Vehicles we accept in Albany

Cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, boats, RVs — running or not, clean title or complicated.

At Capital Wheels, we take pride in accepting nearly any vehicle, whether it’s drivable or not! From sedans to motorcycles and even boats, your donation can make a significant difference in our community. Not only do we help neighbors find essential resources like SNAP and Medicaid, but each donated vehicle also contributes to funding this vital benefits-research service. We welcome a wide range of vehicles, so if you have an old car sitting in your driveway or a motorhome you no longer use, consider donating it today and help us support Albany residents in need.

Categories we accept

Cars & Sedans
1995-present

Donated cars are often auctioned off to the highest bidder, which maximizes the funding we can provide for community programs. If a vehicle isn't suitable for auction, parts may be sold or the car may be recycled responsibly.

Albany has a diverse urban landscape, making cars an integral part of our city life. Donating a vehicle can help local residents get back on the roads.

Pickup Trucks
2000-present

Pickup trucks are frequently in demand for auctions and can fetch good prices. If a truck is not in working condition, parts will be salvaged to support our funding efforts.

With Albany's mix of urban and suburban environments, pickup trucks are vital for many local tradespeople and families.

SUVs & Crossovers
2005-present

SUVs and crossovers often attract buyers at auctions due to their popularity. Non-running units are assessed for parts value, ensuring no donation goes to waste.

In Albany, SUVs are popular for family outings and activities, making them valuable for many local residents.

Motorcycles
1990-present

Motorcycles may be auctioned or evaluated for parts. Enthusiasts often seek out older models for restoration, providing additional funding avenues.

Motorcycle culture is vibrant in Albany, and donating a bike contributes to continuing that tradition while helping those in need.

RVs & Campers
2000-present

RVs and campers are typically sold at auction or may be dismantled for parts if not in working condition, maximizing our funding potential.

Many Albany residents enjoy weekend getaways, so donated RVs can provide both adventure and assistance to our programs.

Boats
2000-present

Donated boats can be sold at auction or disassembled for parts. This not only supports our funding but also ensures responsible recycling.

Though Albany is landlocked, there are many nearby lakes and rivers where boats are cherished, making them valuable donations.

Commercial Vehicles
2000-present

These vehicles are analyzed for their auction value and often attract interest from local businesses. Non-operational units may be stripped for parts.

In Albany, many small businesses rely on commercial vehicles. Donating one can help further local entrepreneurial efforts.

Non-running Vehicles
Any year

Non-running vehicles are typically evaluated for parts or recycled, ensuring that they still provide funding for our initiatives.

Albany’s residents often have older vehicles that may no longer run, so donating one can help keep our community supported.

Condition guide

When donating a vehicle, the condition is key. A running vehicle is the most straightforward scenario, allowing for easy auction or reselling. If your car doesn’t run, don’t worry! We accept non-running vehicles as well, which can be salvaged for parts or recycled. This means that even if your car is in less than perfect condition, it can still play an essential role in our mission.

Vehicles with salvage titles are typically accepted as long as they are intact and can be transported. However, if your vehicle has a rebuilt or reconstructed title, we may evaluate it on a case-by-case basis. You may also donate a vehicle with a lienholder present, but it’s crucial to verify with the lender first. Missing titles can complicate things, but we encourage you to reach out for guidance on how to proceed.
